Programma

Your Three hour Equine Experience at Tucson's China Cabinet Ranch starts right after introductions. We will get the “horse chores” out of the way (feeding, watering, and mucking) while talking about your experience and goals .with horses and questions or concerns you may have.
You’ll learn how to safely groom and saddle a horse (western style). We will discuss tack (saddles, bridles, bits, etc.) and you will properly adjust your stirrups. Then, you will take a 1 hour private lesson learning how to mount up, walk, turn, back, and trot a horse in my 60’ round pen.
Finally, we will go on a 1 hour guided trail ride in Saguaro National Park during which time you can ask anything you want about horses: feed and supplements, vaccinations, shoeing, fly control, and general horse health and care. I'm a CHA Level 2 Western Instructor, EAGALA trained facilitator for equine therapy, and professional wrangler (guides trail rides, while taking pictures of others). Your instructor has owned horses for over 30 years, so ask her anything.

I have owned horses for over 30 years and have been certified by CHA (instruction), EAGALA (equine therapy), and the Red Cross (Outdoor First Aid). I have worked at riding stables, given riding lessons, and have been a professional wrangler for almost 10 years. I am currently Vice President of the Tucson Saddle Club and am owner of the China Cabinet Ranch in northwest Tucson where I offer lodging for humans and horses!

Luogo

We will spend the first two hours at the China Cabinet Ranch and the last hour on a trail ride along Panther Peak Wash in Saguaro National Park’s west district. This is the area of the world with the most saguaros and your guide will take many pictures of you. There are all kinds of cacti, and if we’re lucky, you may see a coyote, javelina, desert tortoise, Gila monster, lizards, rabbits, & mule deer.

This experience was an exceptional way to see the Saguaro National Park. Laura was accommodating in my request to ride at sunset. We had a great time learning equine safety and learning equine care. The ride was spectacular through the desert as the sun set. Laura was knowledgeable about the landscape and history of the area and had lot of stories to tell. I'm so glad that we had the opportunity to go out. This experience is perfect for any skill level.

This experience was everything it was advertised to be. I loved it. Love horses and riding, but I don't have the opportunity to do so very often. Im not a very experienced rider- beginner to intermediate. Laura took time with me and was very patient. I fed, groomed, bridled and saddled my gentle horse, Mosaic. Then, a gorgeous long ride through the Saguaros. The scenery at her place is gorgeous. If it is your dream to ride in the desert, I highly recommend this experience. Not only is Laura a very experienced horse person, she will explain many interesting facts about plants, trees, and animals of the area. Very knowledgeable about all thing Tucson as well. GO! You won't regret it. Make sure you follow her precise directions to her place.
