Cosa farete

Let me show you around my favorite neighborhood in San Francisco, the one with more murals, by far, than any other in the city: La Missión! As the Mission's murals weave together art, culture, social justice, history, and literature, we'll tap into our creative juices too!
As we wind our way through the Mission District's main arteries, we will dip into lesser-known alleyways and side streets encountering some of the most thought-provoking artwork in the neighborhood; absorbing the splendor of its murals, we'll arrive at the crown jewel of Mission green spaces, Dolores Park. There, while overlooking an incredible view of the city, we’ll get our notebooks out for a short writing session, inspired by what we have seen, learned, and experienced on our adventure. (Don't be intimidated as the exercise is suited for all. It also takes place at the end of the experience so if you'd rather just take in the view, take pictures, or continue exploring the Mission, you have that option. Alternatively, if immersed in your writing you can stay in the park as long as you wish.) I will provide writing prompts for a freeform session where your writing may take any shape from brainstorming, to journaling, to dialogue, to poetry, to whatever your imagination conceives!
It is scientifically proven that both expending energy, and viewing artwork, can promote creativity. Let's give it a whirl!
Other things to note
This experience is for EVERYONE, from those who have never attempted to write creatively to seasoned writers. Just bring your open-mind and let the art inspire you!

I am a local writer, an art lover, and a firm believer in the benefits of rambling and roaming. I hold an MA in English, an MFA in Creative Writing, have led writing workshops as an assistant teacher, and have been published in journals. Experiencing artwork makes for great literary inspiration I find. Murals especially fascinate me, and I've had the good fortune of exploring them in Lima, Amsterdam, New York, Portland, Oakland, and of course, San Francisco.

Dove ti troverai

Our mural walk will take place in the heart of the Mission District, starting at one of the least touristy, (and in my humble opinion,) coolest SF cultural landmarks and ending at one my favorite green spaces in San Francisco. We will explore many of the neighborhood's murals on a leisurely, mostly-flat, walk. In addition, I will point out fun bars and authentic eateries along the way that you can visit later on.
