Be transported away from the everyday in this one-of-a-kind eco-cabin in a fantastical setting nestled in a lush garden with sparkling views to the Gold Coast. It's like glamping but in a cabin. Even the outdoor loo has an outstanding view. And you are only 7 minutes' drive from our local village. The cabin has a kitchenette, a breakfast bar, and a deck with BBQ. A modern shower and basin is available inside. The composting toilet is accessed along a short garden path and up some stairs.

Lo spazio
The cabin is located in a quiet garden area separated from our family home on a lower level of our acreage property. It is surrounded by nature and full of birdsong (with possible frog chorus at night). I lived in Japan for many years so some Japanese influence may be detected. The great thing about this property is its handy location - only 20-30 minutes to both the beach (closest is Burleigh Heads) and the rainforest (Springbrook National Park) while being only 7 minutes to our local, historic village and 15 minutes to a train station and Robina Town Centre - a major shopping/entertainment hub.
Your sleeping/living space looks out onto gardens on two sides with views to the skyline of the Gold Coast from the front. At night enjoy a drink as the sun sets and the lights of the Gold Coast sparkle in the distance. In the mornings enjoy splendid sunrises. The cabin has a small, modern ensuite with shower and hand basin.
!!Please note that there is no toilet inside the cabin - our environmentally-friendly composting toilet is accessed outside via a garden path and stairs.!!
The cabin has two sitting areas - one small interior table and chairs looking out on a miniature Zen garden and pond; and the rear deck which also has a table and chairs and BBQ. Our 14-acre property is at the end of a road with only two houses on it. The Hinze Dam boat ramp (with lakeside picnic table and grassy area) can also be easily accessed from our property on foot or by car.
Please note that we have another Airbnb listing on this property (which adjoins our family home on the upper level). Additionally, potters have a workshop and wood firing kiln on our property. All of the workshop and accommodation facilities on the property are private and self contained and not visible from one another. However you may see others when they are walking outside. Also adjacent to my family home I have a traditional Japanese chashitsu (tea room) where I teach tea ceremony (chanoyu) three days a week. If you have a strong interest in tea ceremony and wish to see the tea room or have a tea ceremony demonstration please let me know. $50 for a session.
Cabin Facilities:

+ 1 queen-size bed
+ ensuite with shower and basin (nb!!! toilet is outside!!!)
+ coat stand for hanging towels/clothes
+ cabinet with towels and other amenities
+ breakfast bar
+ table with two chairs

Kitchenette
The kitchenette is suitable for tea & coffee making and simple meals preparation. It has:
+ a bar fridge
+ basic utensils & crockery
+ kettle
+ electric frypan
+ tea&coffee, milk, butter, bread, jam, muesli
+basic condiments such as oil, S&P, vinegar, soy sauce...

Timber deck:
+ BBQ
+ table and chairs

Accesso per gli ospiti
+ most of the grounds unless otherwise signed
+ Japanese tea ceremony room for demonstrations by appointment (separate charge)

Altre cose da tenere a mente
No public transport: Please firstly note that there is no convenient public transport - you will need a car.
Outdoor toilet: We have an environmentally friendly composting toilet that is accessed via a garden path and stairs. Please check the photos to make sure you are going to be okay with this sort of toilet.
Hazards: Our property has several ponds and paths with jagged rocks, plus other hazards and is not suitable for young children or pets
Insects, geckoes and frogs: As we are in a bush environment there will be occasional visits from insects such as moths and dragonflies and also geckoes. All of these creatures are harmless. It is impossible to stop geckoes living around the houses in tropical and semitropical parts of the world such as this so all we can do is try to live in harmony with them. As the cabin is surrounded by ponds you may be serenaded by a variety of frog calls :)
Our dog: Please be aware that we do own a mini poodle (and our next door neighbour's dogs may also come across to visit from time to time) but it is unlikely that they will venture down to your cabin area.

I lived in Japan for 23 years working as a journalist, writer, editor. Travelling to old country towns and Japanese Tea Ceremony were a big part of my life. Tea Ceremony still is. I have my own chashitsu at home and teach there three days a week in addition to teaching Japanese translation at university part time. I live with my daughter and poodle and two other Japanese friends. Pottery has also been one of my major interests and I am lucky that potter friends are using the shed on my property (which used to be my father's wholesale orchid greenhouse) for their workshop and kiln.
