Things to Do
Ralston House is situated 50 metres from the picturesque Largs Bay Beach. It’s a 5 minute walk to the Largs Pier, one of the state’s first hotels, and the first to open a drive through bottle shop. On the beach side is a beach kiosk and children’s playground. There is plenty of grassed space to kick a ball, and a stroll along the jetty is a must.
Turn left and take a 10 minute walk to Semaphore and enjoy the many café’s and restaurants. Highlights of the foreshore include the Water slide Complex, the Fort Glanville train rides during the warmer months, an historic carousel, the Semaphore Summer Carnival and of course the beach and jetty. There are also some great shops, cafes and restaurants on nearby Semaphore Road.
The Semaphore Foreshore Reserve is a large grassy area with ample room to run around and kick a ball. There is a fully fenced undercover playground here next to the kiosk, a skate park, picnic and BBQ facilities and access to the beach and jetty. There are convenient beach-side showers and the path that runs along the foreshore is perfect for a leisurely coastal walk, running or riding bikes and scooters. On the other side of the foreshore are public toilets and if you walk along the path down in front of The Palais you’ll find another playground.
Semaphore road also houses Foodland and IGA supermarkets.
Fishermen’s Wharf Markets
Black Diamond Square, Port Adelaide, South Australia
Perched next to the open sea, the Fishermen’s Wharf Markets is really reflective of its name by the bay docked full of boats with a vibrant buzz of life. Featuring an enormous indoor market with a vast variety of stalls, the market spreads over two huge levels and includes lifts and escalators for easy accessibility. Stalls provide something for everyone from home décor, bridal and fashion, sports, refreshments and even toys and collectables for the children. With its serene surroundings, you can watch the dolphins play in the water, relax with your favourite beverage or look around for a new favourite item.
