I have to say I am very sad to read this review. I tried to prepare folks in our write up that this is 'soft opening' meaning that we are not sophisticated yet and we have a higher standard as a goal. That said, the criticisms serve as a guide on what we need to improve. So thank you. The floor will be having the full acid clean and paint treatment by early May, I believe. The floor currently feels perfectly fine to my feet right now. Maybe I'm just insensative--will make sure to have our new housekeeper do regular good cleanings. We find the relatively hard mattress super comfortable; but I realize that we may be in the minority. We will be attending to this immediately to add a more cushy top pad or find a softer mattress. We want our guests to sleep deep.
Can't do anything about the coqui frogs. If you are a light sleeper--East Hawaii may not be your best choice. Our coqui's are not as loud as many places at lower elevations. But they do exist; with a noise level somewhat similar to crickets, in my opinion. We have recently been putting the dogs inside at night and that keeps them quiet. They are quiet mostly during the day--except when the cows come really close to the fence or a jogger comes up the road. Then, they will bark. If we are home we bring them in at those times during the day.
But... if you are planning to stay in during the day here a lot--this may not be your best choice. I cannot promise the dogs will always be quiet during the day.
Anywhoo... we're improving all the time. I believe you will find this with subsequent guest comments. Hope so.
