Our hosts were very flexible when our arrival date changed due to a flight cancellation. Pia picked us up at the Ultramar ferry dock, took us to the grocery store to pick up a few items, and showed us around before taking us to the Chalet. Once there, she helped us get settled in. Fernando offered us use of their electric golf cart for a very competitive rate vs. the rental places elsewhere on the Isla, which we certainly took advantage of.
There was a brief power outage that affected the entire island, followed by a problem with the water pump. The problem was fixed promptly and really didn't cause us any inconvenience at all.
Pia helped us get a taxi to the Ultramar the day before we checked out, and she and Fernando stopped by before we left to say good bye.
The Chalet is charming, with plenty of space to sleep at least 4. It has an air conditioner to keep things comfy (it works great!), a refrigerator, gas stove, and washing machine. It's in a great location away from the noise and traffic on the north end of the Isla. Everything is a relatively short drive away!
There are a few things to keep in mind about this place:
First, it is "rustic". It is NOT a hotel or condo. The floors are wooden planks and you can see sunlight through small parts of the walls. Basically, it's a tropical cabin :) Expect noisy birds outside, and a bug or two indoors.
Second, if you're mobility challenged, you may have problems negotiating the stairs to the sleeping area. The stairs are steep with a tall rise. So if you have mobility problems, plan to sleep on the first floor.
Third, if you have any problems, questions, or concerns, Pia and Fernando are great. They promptly answered our questions and dealt with the few problems we encountered. They are also very knowledgeable about the area and can recommend places to eat or visit. They were, overall, the best hosts we could ask for.
