Lo spazio
Stay in a completely remodeled Mid-century Modern home with contemporary furnishings, built in 1958 and remodeled in 2014. See a view of Seattle, and all the Puget Sound and more from every room. It is spectacular. With almost an acre of landscaped yard, it is a very beautiful spot. You have 1300 square feet of space.. At the same time, it is important to not that there is only a shojii screen-like barrier between you, then 6 interior stairs, a small landing, then 6 more stairs to the upstairs unit. It is private for sure, but no locking door at this part of the house. I live upstairs with my pets, and others are on the property itself.

Have a glass of wine on the patio in a comfortable Adirondack chair and appreciate the view. Use the gas grill for a delicious salmon dinner.

With a gas stove and a full kitchen, make whatever you like. Or not! While I don't provide a breakfast, please help yourself to any food item that you may find in cabinets or the refrigerator.

One important note: It's key you love a friendly cat- Jonathan, and a very smart and adorable dog, Bobbie Lou, a 2-year old Border Collie as they often can't help wandering over to say hello. There's also two kittens, Jacquline Barbara Davey and Eleanor Belle. If this doesn't work for you, just close the divider to upstairs and do let me know. Generally this area is blocked off.

ABOUT THE LOCATION
You are 15 minutes from Seattle and also 30+ minutes from great hiking and skiing trails. For those who love to shop, downtown Bellevue has it all -- find excellent restaurants, listen to comedy or live music in Bellevue Square/ Lincoln Square just a few miles away. Get some great deals just a few miles away in Factoria Mall at Nordstrom Rack, DSW and more.

Beyond the view, many people are awestruck by this very hilly, lovely, private and quiet location we have here so very close to the city, as well as Issaquah, Redmond, Kirkland and Mercer Island. Rush hour times are tough (7:30 AM to 9:30 AM and 3:30 to 6:30 PM), but we are close to most everything. Don't be surprised to see wild life, especially deer, wander through the yard. There's parking up the long driveway for one car either on the right as far as you can be parallel with the rock wall on the rocks, or also turn left and face the stairs leading to your new temporary home. (Great if you can scooch over so 2 cars can fit.) You can also park down by the street if you are concerned about reverse parking. There's not much traffic up our way!

Altre cose da tenere a mente
I mentioned parking under "Guest Access." One car on either the right or left side. Park at a left 90 degree angle if you park to the left. However, if you feel uncomfortable reversing down a long driveway, you may feel better parking in front of the house instead.

Wi-fi/Internet/Router
To connect your device to the router, use the passcode “basiccoconut266.” This is also written on the back of the router near the TV.

Someone asked what the internet speed was and I downloaded an app that indicated for downloads, 50.34 MBPS and 6.49 for uploads. I have no idea what that means, but I have the best in the area and I use it for significant file downloads regularly for work. Never have had an issue.

ABOUT THE TV, REMOTE AND MOVIES

Remote control for TV:
This is the only way you'll want to turn on the TV to access regular channels, Xfinity/Comcast cable and various apps more.

Use only this one remote to turn it on: Press the button at the top – the one in red – to turn it on. Most likely you will reach the Xfinity network. Select My Apps to select from the Guide (TV listings), saved channels (Ellen, 60 Minutes and the NBC News), XOD (On Demand). Most of the movies on On Demand you need to pay for. I am fine with you watching a movie you need to pay for – just reimburse me with cash/check.
You can also access the internet and Netflix and more movie options, etc. by selecting Home. Many of these are free.

I would ask you not play with the system in the corner cabinet itself as it is complicated.

FOOD/BEVERAGES AND THE LIKE
Help yourself to what you see. Of course if you make a big dent, may want to reciprocate in some way. But what you see in the refrigerator and cabinets is meant for you.

Trash/Recycle
In the kitchen are 2 aluminum cans. The larger is for trash. The smaller is for recycle items.

Recycling
You can recycle any of these items – either put in the mesh black containers or larger slim metal container. Then, if you’d like, place all of the following together in the plastic BLUE bin on the side of the house.

You can even save organic items and put them in the GREEN bin on the side of the house.

What’s left is truly garbage, and ends up in the GRAY bin on the side of the house.

WANT REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE CLEANING FEE?
Want to be reimbursed for your cleaning fee? Let me know in advance, and: launder all towels and linens, and return them to their locations. Do an extra thorough wipe-down of the unit, including windows, door knobs, surfaces. After a microfiber sweep, including under beds, etc., wet-mop the floor. Go over sofa with a wet rag. Fluff up pillows, etc. and generally have it looking good for the next guest. Ask me to have a look to ensure we got everything as perfect as can be. :)

SPENDING TIME WITH THE PETS
Are you or your children new to being around dogs or cats? Read this
If you haven’t been around dogs or cats much, but want to spend time with Solomon, the dog, and Jonny, the cat.

A lot of the guests who visit here come because have heard how fun it is to interact with them, and you can, but it’s important you are apprised of a few things. Please realize you are responsible for your own well-being, as well as your family members and also my pets while they are in your care.
Just as you have your children, I have mine – they just happen to have fur. I know you will treat them with the same kindness and respect you treat your own human family members. They are not toys. They are real, living creatures. Solomon is an old dog. He is a Border Collie, the smartest type of dog you can have. He is 14 years old, which makes him around 94 years old in people years, but he doesn’t act like it! Jonny is also an old cat. I think he is 12 years old, but I am not sure as I got him from the Humane Society.
Dogs and cats have been bred for thousands of years to be friends with people, and also to help them. Dogs are known to be “watch dogs” and bark at and yes, even bite, strangers to ensure their owners are protected. That’s why it is good to slowly and carefully say hello to a dog and not rush up to them. Cats are born hunters, and often make sure there aren’t any unwanted critters in the house. I hope you don’t, but you may find one of Jonny’s kills sometime. He likes to hunt moles, mice, birds, and yes, bunnies.
A Border Collie is a herding dog. They were bred to herd sheep and cattle in Australia and Scotland. They would do this by nipping at the heels of stray sheep, for example. Even now, many Border Collies nip a lot. They won’t likely break skin, but it is basically to “keep you in line.” You have to be prepared for this, although with Solomon it is rare.
Jonny is a very friendly cat, and unlikely to use his teeth or claws, but still important to keep in mind.
Because they are old, it is important to remember they get tired and cranky, and may not be able to play as long as you would like them to. Feel free to give them treats and pet them instead. They love that!

Finally, in the unlikely event you are scratched or grazed by a pet, know that they are both up-to-date on their shots.

Looking forward to seeing you. Generally people show up after 3 PM, but let me know if you have a special request. I likely can offer it earlier.

After you've come up the driveway, you'll see cement stairs leading down on your left. Go down and around, and the key is under the mat. The key fits all the sliding doors - fyi. All the same, do feel comfortable that it is a very safe area. I will also put a flashlight in the first cement box with the bamboo just before you start going down the stairs in case you need it.

Bellevue has a fantastic Recycling program. To learn all the things you DON'T need to put in the garbage, go to (URL HIDDEN)

CHECK-OUT: Please make sure everything that isn't yours is neatly put away, and everything is wiped down, including the inside of the refrigerator, microwave and oven. Take off all used linens and put in a pile. Better yet, start a load, including the duvet covers and pillows if used. Combine all trash.

Bellevue, Washington, Stati Uniti

Horizon View is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Bellevue. It had been unincorporated for years, and only just recently joined the city. It is lovely but can be some work going up and down the hills close by, but worth it for the views and occasional deer you may see. It's also v informal. Each house has about an acre of land and far from the street. There aren't sidewalks, but there also aren't very many cars at all. Generally I walk my dog off leash, and people generally wave and say hello.

I am a very active 51-year old with a significant other named Mario. My husband died from cancer a few years ago. I don't have any kids, except 3 with fur. I am the youngest of a large family (9). I love people and learning about their cultures and interests. I have lived in this area for over 20 years and love it. (Originally I am from western suburbs of Chicago, and born in Milwaukee, WI. This has been a switch!) I am an instructional design consultant, generally working for Microsoft, and work out of my home. A few of my life mottos are, "Laughter is the best medicine," and "seek understanding." I've done a lot of volunteering, the past 10 as a Master Gardener and also Naturalist (don't ask too many questions as I'm a little rusty!). 5 things I can't live without include the lovely friends and people in my life, my pets, as well as good wine, great food, serious exercise outdoors and beauty in all forms, including nature/art/music/words and all the rest. Yes, more than five, I know. My favorite movie is Best in Show. Perhaps An American Tragedy for a book -- so many of both I love. I generally like soft but interesting music. Tomorrow I will go hear Pink Martini at the Ste Michelle Winery. I usually pack it in when I travel -- it's not often a vacation! I've seen probably 85% of US states, as well as lived in Japan and Australia -- both for about 6 months. I've seen some of Europe - England, Scotland, Germany, Italy and a few other fly-bys there. I've also been to Costa Rica, many Mexican areas, Vietnam and Cambodia. I am really looking forward to seeing Brazil (that's where Mario is from) at Christmastime. Working on my house has been a journey, and I am so glad you get to see it in the final stage after almost six years of work. Yeppers -- beyond the 20+ truckloads of items brought to mens' shelters; borrowed goats chewing up the blackberries and all else in the yard (these still suburban neighbors weren't real excited about that!). and the yearlong+ construction to bring the house where it is now. Despite spending a lot more than I ever expected, I am very happy about how it turned out, and I look forward to sharing it with you.

I enjoy meeting people and definitely want to talk with you. At the same time, I appreciate my privacy and suspect you do as well. I reside on the upper floor. The space below you can consider yours. If you need something, feel free to come visit me. Generally after 8 pm to 9 am the next day I will not bother you, and expect the same.

I have a divider that you can pull closed at anytime to indicate you just want to be left alone. This includes if you are done with cat affection and the like -- feel free to send any outside too. They just come around to the front in a bit for me.

If you need a kitchen item or the like and I'm not around, you are welcome to look around for it yourself upstairs, or text me at (phone number hidden). No worries. Texting is often the best way to communicate. Feels funny at first when we may be in close proximity, but allows for more privacy.
