Our very private, serene, stand-alone barn apt. sits on an 80 acre estate with drop-dead views of the Green Mountains, mid-way between Middlebury and Burlington high in the Champlain Valley. Perfect for two adults and a child or grandparent, (or two couples who don't mind sleeping in the same room) it is close to skiing, hiking trails, lake & river swimming, kayaking, fabulous restaurants...great locally made artisinal beer, wine, cheese, and chocolate!
A very snowy winter is here in VT and the celebration of life in the North Country is happening from Stowe to the Mad River Valley! From Lake Champlain to the top of the Green Mountains, from Middlebury, Burlington, and Stowe, you can celebrate it all from our place. Great seasonal local wine, ciders and beers are on tap everywhere. Enjoy the incredible mountain views with coffee or drinks while cozy in the barn. Ask about a cooking lesson (pasta making, anyone?) Cheese, chocolate, beer and wine tastings or tours? Book a massage or spa day? Just ask us... Our very comfortable and beautifully appointed Luxury Barn Apartment is surrounded by gardens and breath-taking views on 80 very private acres. Nestled high in the Green Mountains, Lincoln is a peaceful world apart, yet Middlebury College and all its cultural resources is 18 miles away. The charming Village of Bristol is 5 minutes, 20 to the wonderful little City of Vergennes, 30 minutes to Burlington International Airport. Montreal is 2 1/2 hours to the north, Boston 3 hrs. south. We are very close to Lake Champlain for summer water play, as well as world-class skiing at Sugarbush, Madriver, and The Middlebury College Snow Bowl and Reichert Ski Touring Center. Stowe is an hour to the north. Hiking, snowshoeing, secret swimming holes, biking, and cross-country opportunities abound just outside the front door. Numerous great restaurants, artisan cheese and bread makers and several flourishing Farmer's Markets are open year-round. It's a perfect spot for city-dwellers to kick back for a weekend in the country, or for putting up family members during Reunions, Parent's Weekends, Homecoming and Graduations at Middlebury College. Numerous Brides and Grooms have chosen the Apartment for their honeymoons. If you would like to have a Massage, Cooking Class, or Artisinal Cheese Tour, we would be delighted to arrange it. Please let us know how we can help you plan your perfect get-away. There are plenty of places to get well fed and caffinated nearby. Bristol is home to the incomparable Almost Home Market, the Bristol Bakery, and Snaps Diner. Dinners out are also a treat: visit with Chef Doug Mack and his wife Linda Harmon of Mary's at Baldwin Creek for fabulous locally grown everything (cooking classes!), or go to the Bobcat for a local Brew and Bistro Fare. Not to be missed either, are the sublimely French Tourterelle (Best Boulliabaise Ever), in New Haven, and the Vergennes Laundry for superb coffee and pastries, fresh oysters and sandwiches. Did I forget to mention Middlebury Chocolates or Daily Chocolate in Vergennes, lu.lu's small-batch ice cream in Bristol, and all the local brews? So much more great food and drink, so little time!!! We can acommodate two adults in a queen bed, and also have a double-bed as well for an extra couple or child, 35 dollars a night per person in the second bed. Fresh linens, fresh coffee, teas and snacks are provided by us. Canine friends are welcome only downstairs in the barn garage (the floor is heated and the space cozy), and are not allowed in the apartment. Bring kennel and or bed. Please be advised - If your pet cannot be out of your sight, the barn is not going to work for them!
Private, peaceful, beautiful views, convenient to everything you might want to do in our part of the state. Addison County is ideally located between Lake Champlain (summer water games) to the west, the Presidential Range to the east (Mad River Glen, Sugarbush, Stowe Mountain Resort). Quaint, upscale Vergennes is 15 minutes. To the north and south, two College towns: Burlington and Middlebury.
  • Our week-end was amazing: the barn doesn't look like a farm house anymore but a luxury loft in the middle of the woods. The view over the hills is magic and the village is the cutest ever. Christine tells that a secret patio will be build by next summer for the guest: but shhhh.... We loved our week-end so much and Christine's warm welcome that we already booked for march. Hope this place will remain a quiet and secret retreat.

  • Christine and John were great, and the space was gorgeous! My wife and I stayed for two nights with our two children, and it couldn't have been more perfect. If you're on the fence, don't be; it's a great space and a great location.

  • A very special place in rural Vermont ( unbelievable mountain views from barn) . Our family had New Year's Eve holiday of Skiing and ice skating that we will never forget. Thank you Christine.

  • My wife and I had a wonderfull time at the barn. Christine is a great host and the location is just perfect. We can't wait to visit again.

  • My fiance and I really loved staying in Christine's barn. She was very helpful and communicative as it came closer to our trip, and while the local roads weren't as clearly marked or all paved (just something to note for people with older/smaller cars like ours), we still found the house pretty easily and once we got there, the views were breathtaking. The barn itself is spacious and quiet, even though the main home on the property is a few feet away. It still felt very private and relaxing-- perfect for a couple of days away. As a city girl and guy, the one thing that creeped us out at first was how unexpectedly dark it was outside at night. We're night owls and would've loved a curtain or two by the bed/bathroom. There were also a few big spiders by the entrance and in the corners on the ceiling, but we understood and got used to the fact that this is all part of the country experience. :) All in all, the luxury barn apartment was excellent. Thanks for everything, Christine! ~Val & Andy

  • What an amazing place to stay! Stayed here for three nights, and had a great time. Christine was a great host, full of good advice, and she made us feel very welcome. We borrowed the snow shoes and sleds, and on Christine's recommendations made full use of them. The house feels pretty remote - it's a five minute drive to Lincoln, and maybe 15 to Bristol, where there are some really good places to eat (Bobcat Cafe was my highlight, although a scone from Almost Home came close). On a communication front, Christine could not have been more helpful or available. The barn was very clean and well decorated, and was exactly as described. I would recommend staying here to anyone.

  • Christine and John were great hosts! The place was perfect and clean. We enjoyed a very comfortable stay and got a lot of relaxation and skiing in!

    Lindsay2016-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Christine and John were great hosts and made us feel so welcome in their beautiful home! We came during a snowstorm, but were warm and cozy in the gorgeous barn and enjoyed the amazing selection of teas! John plowed the driveway first thing in the morning which was awesome and allowed us to get into town even with lots of snow falling. We felt super well taken care of. Thank you for a great stay!

  • Everything was exactly as stated. bed was VERY comfortable. we had a nice conversation with Bobbi and her husband. location was very convenient for our purposes.

    Adam2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Bobbi and Mac were great hosts. The location is absolutely stunning with great mountain and sunset views from the back deck. I had my bike with me and Mac had great suggestions for ride options as well as sights to see on the day I departed. Warren falls and the general store were great. The room was perfect and was as described as posted. I enjoyed the laptop friendly workspace as well as the comfortable sitting room. I didn’t make use of the kitchen due to my plans but the kitchen was well equipped. Highly recommend and hope to return soon.

  • Great place and very friendly hosts. The location is a lovely home on top of a hill with a great view of the Green Mountains. When we arrived, we were greeted with friendliness and hospitality. Everything was clean and comfortable and made for a great ski trip. Plus a friendly dog is always a plus! I definitely recommend staying here for some relaxation after a long ski day.

    Ryan2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Bobbi and her husband were extremely welcoming and accommodating.

    Michelle2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place to stay! This is quintessential VT. The house was so thoughtful and the view irreplaceable. The room is in its own little wing with private bathroom right outside the room. It is in a quiet area and not terribly far from town. Bobbi was an ideal host. She was courteous and friendly. Communication was great, she gave us plenty of local insight and we had zero problems. We would stay again.

  • What a nice place! Well equipped kitchen, good bedroom, comfortable, and in a lovely spot in the Green Mountains. Jason was great in his communication with us. Some caveats: this is more secluded than an in-village experience, and the beds for the 3rd and 4th guest are best for children or teens.

    Peter2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We appreciated the pro-active communication on Jason's part to get get us settled in so quick. Jason's 1 bedroom is easy to find, and in a perfect vermont country setting. The kitchen was big, clean and functional. Overall it was very comfortable and we had two relaxing, fun nights there after a day on the slope. My girlfriend and I were impressed by the thoughtful setup of the apartment, and we would love to visit again.

    Tim2016-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely time. The apartment was exactly as described, and they were great hosts. We even got to meet their dog and she was adorable! We will definitely be staying again.

    Erin2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • I found Jason's place on Air BnB as a place to spend my now annual summer solo/silent retreat - and it was perfect! The apartment itself is great - a soft but solid, dreamy bed, a well stocked kitchen with all the cookware I needed to make a week of meals, and lots of comfortable seating in the living room/dining space with plenty of floor space for morning yoga and meditation. A bonus I did not anticipate is that their backyard connects to a network of cross-country skiing trails. In the summer these are grassy, wooded trails, that were perfect for quiet, early morning walks. I also did not expect that Blueberry Lake - a spot that became my favorite place to journal and practice yoga - is literally a 5 minute drive a way. The apartment is also close to other amazing sites - like Warren Falls, which, if you're looking for alone time, I recommend going before 10 a.m. Both the apartment and Warren itself were exactly what I was looking for for this kind of getaway (however much I could not have anticipated just how perfect it all would be!) I would highly recommend staying at Jason's.

    amanda2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect rental in a beautiful location. The property backs up onto some beautiful trails and a short drive or nice 3-mile walk to Warren's historic district and the wonderful Warren Store. Also a nice walk to beautiful Blueberry Lake and the scenic hiking and biking trails it offers. The apartment itself sleeps 2 adults and 2 children - the 2 futons beds are child size, so keep that in mind. My adult son used one with no problem but he's a heavy sleeper and could sleep on the floor if he had to. Otherwise, the unit is modern, clean, spacious, and very private. It's also country quiet - by that I mean very quiet until rooster time in the morning. If you're going to Vermont, that should be something you'd be looking forward to! Thank you Jason and wife for a great opportunity to stay in an area that means so much to me and for allowing me to introduce my family to Warren. They too have fallen in love with the place!

    Christine2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jason was a great host who made us feel welcome. The apartment was exactly as described and the location a great central base for exploring Central Vermont. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend Jason's place.

  • Jason was great, allowing us to book day of and let us check out late the next day! Would definitely stay in his cozy garage apt anytime.

    Baz2016-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend Jason's apartment. It was clean and well appointed. A short drive to restaurants. He and his wife could not have been nicer.

Come enjoy the rustic beauty of a log cabin made from local spruce, yet with all the modern conveniences of home. Snowshoe and cross country ski at Blueberry Lake, just across the street! Or relax and gaze at the sloping meadow.
At my house, your water flows down the mountain from a spring, your heat comes from firewood felled near the property, electricity is generated from solar panels, and air conditioning consists of open windows with summer breezes. If your towels are slightly stiff, it's because they are air-dried outside in the sun.
Warren is the home of fantastic skiing at Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. The capital city of Montpelier is a mere 40 minutes away and houses a variety of restaurants and pubs.
  • Accurate description. Really nice home that is convenient to Mad River Glen and Sugarbush.

  • Great host. Easy going, comfortable

    Daniel2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is cozy and beautiful. Whether staying in the winter or summer, this is the quiet mountain get-away you are looking for, with a generous and friendly host, Jas. There is a wood stove to keep you warm in the winter, and lots of access to hiking trails and forest in the summer. The place is very very clean, with a private room and comfortable bed. It is really all you can ask for in an Airbnb. Thanks Jas!

    Matt2016-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jas' place is what I picture for a Vermont home. Custom log cabin with personal touches, dirt road, trees and mountains. Jas is a solid human and host. Easy guy to chat with, happy to give local information. My room was exactly what I needed for my stay. Furnished comfortably and included a desk, which was great to do work on my computer. All around great accommodations for my time in Warren.

    Alex2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jas made me feel most welcome. Even though he was busy when I arrived he made time to see that I got situated. I had all I needed for my comfort. Space in fridge for my food; good WiFi connection; plenty of pillows; ceiling fan and additional fan in bedroom (warm in August); easy parking for my car; private bathroom; outlet for my computer; and plenty of privacy. I felt free to come and go as needed. Jas was very friendly and it turned out we had things in common which made conversation easy and interesting. I look forward to staying with Jas again. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because Jas is making improvements to the place. Once completed it will be five stars for certain!

    Elizabeth M.2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jas and his kitty companion, Sebastian, were wonderful welcoming hosts. The house was clean and quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and Sebastian is now at the top of my "favorite cat" list. Thank you, Jas!

    Julia2015-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jas was an amazing host: friendly and knowledgable about the area. It is always great to meet someone with similar interests. I arrived pretty late in the evening and he was up to greet me and show me around the cabin. The cabin is very spacious, impeccably clean, and comfortable. I travel to that area every so often and I look forward to staying with Jas again. Jas is in the final stages of renovation... when he is complete 5 stars!

  • This Sugarbush Post & Beam home was absolutely gorgeous! It is exactly as described and it is even more beautiful in person. The kitchen was amazing. There was nothing lacking in supplies. The house was so comfortable and warm. Holly was the best host providing quick responses usually within a couple hours. She thoroughly answered all my questions and provided additional information regarding the area (grocery, restaurants, etc). Holly even left a little 4 ft Christmas tree for us to enjoy during our stay. The house was in a great location relative to the mountain. Slightly too far to walk in ski boots but a nice short easy walk for pleasure. This is the only house on this segment of the street so it was particularly quite. My family enjoyed all the comforts including an amazing sound system and we cannot forget the ping pong table as good entertainment. We would definitely consider this home for another stay.

    Deb2015-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our family ski trip to Sugarbush was made perfect by this incredible home. The views of the mountain were fantastic. There was plenty of room for 7 adults. We enjoyed the spacious well equipped and stocked kitchen, and the warm comfortable beds. We played games , played ping pong and watched the football game when not skiing. The downstairs ski room was perfect for all our gear. Everything was spotless. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

    arlene2016-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful and spacious and the views are amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sugarbush Post & Beam Home. Plenty of space for our group of 7 - including a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old. Holly was great communicating with us about any of our needs and offering suggestions for local activities. Lastly, the house was spotless and very well stocked with anything you might need.

    Miranda2015-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This home is a perfect choice for luxury right by the mountain. Views from the living room look right at Lincoln Peak, and your trek to the mountain is literally 5 minutes. The home all all you'll need and great for entertaining a group. Host is very responsive and helpful with guidelines and what's what in the area. Strongly recommend considering this location for your Sugarbush getaway!

  • Our group had an amazing ski weekend at Joe's house! The location is perfect for skiing both Lincoln Peak and Mt Ellen. The house feels brand new and the view (and the sunrise) from the open kitchen/dining/living area is amazing. The house was spotless upon arrival and everything from the furnishings to the towels and bedding looked and felt brand new. We stayed in for breakfast and dinner and preparing meals for our group in the well-equipped kitchen was easy and enjoyable as everything was easy to find and laid out well. The large mud room made it easy to get our group geared up and out the door to hit the slopes. Joe is a great host and made check-in/out easy - thanks for everything! We hope to stay here again for another great ski weekend or maybe a weekend in the summer!

  • My only complaint was that we had to leave!! Only stayed two nights, wish it could have been longer!!

  • Meredith and Joe's place is fantastic. The pictures don't do the beauty of the home, and the great location, justice. We comfortably had 6 adults and 2 children for the weekend. We really enjoyed the large kitchen, and the great deck. Meredith and Joe were great hosts and easy to communicate with. We would definitely stay here again.

  • We had a wonderful time during our stay at Meredith & Joe's house. The location is great (3 min drive to Sugarbush mountain), with a couple of restaurants (including Common Man, which is one of our local favorites) around the corner. The house itself is well stocked and immaculate. It was perfect for our group (two families, with children).

    Tom2018-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • We just stayed 6 nights at Meredith and Joe's place for an end of summer getaway. The house was perfect for our two families. There was plenty of room to spread out when we returned from our daily adventures to many local attractions. The place truly exceeded our expectations and was even better than described here. We ended up eating in a few nights because the kitchen was nice to cook in and we ate on the deck which had amazing views. Everything was clean with new appliances. A brand new house. A centrally located new big screen TV was also great to watch family movies on Netflix. Location is killer. Right by the mountains and close to Waitsfield which has a bunch of good restaurants. We liked American Flatbreads in Waitsfield but get there early to put your name in. We had some questions during our stay and got very fast responses from the owners. Thank you Meredith and Joe. We're definitely planning to come back this winter for skiing. Highly recommend.

    Wonderful
  • We stayed in this home on Labor Day weekend. Home was a good size with open floor plan and plenty of yard space. The river on the back of the house made for a relaxing atmosphere. The home was very clean and cozy as depicted. Location was great, very close to the Warren Store and directly off of Rt. 101. This house is suitable for 3 couples. The bedroom layout was a little strange having to go through 1 bedroom to get to the other bedroom upstairs. Overall we had a great time and would recommend this home for a weekend getaway. Chris was a great host and very responsive to us, even when he was volunteering for the Green Mountain Stage Race. Thanks Chris!

  • Great place, booked last minute, Chris was very accommodating and great communication. Fire was lit in the stove when we walked into the house. How sweet is that? Also don't think the pictures do it enough justice, as it seems bigger than the photos. walk to the general store. 5 minute drive up the hill to the mountain.

  • Lovely house! Chris was a gracious host who had a fire ready for our arrival, which was a very nice touch.

  • Charming house with great living and dining areas. The house gets so much natural light because it has tons of huge windows, but it is not cold at all. In fact, between the wood burning stove and heat, it was quite toasty. We really enjoyed our time there. The 2 main bedrooms are pretty small and they are connected, so it works for close family or friends, but might be a little awkward if you wanted some space. We knew this going in, so we were not surprised or disappointed. It is definitely a consideration for people looking for privacy. Christopher was very responsive and helpful. We would stay there again for sure.

  • We had a wonderful Fall long weekend at the Brooke house. Everything was exactly as described, with plenty of space for 6 of us (ranging from 4 to 70 in age). It was great to have a "home" away from home, and we did a lot of relaxing, cooking, and eating at the house. The woodstove was nice and cozy, and having modern working appliances (especially washer/dryer and dishwasher) helped immensely. The setting is terrific - easy access to beautiful Rt. 100, walking distance to town, nestled nicely next to the stream. Chris was an excellent host - unobtrusive, but very communicative and willing to assist in any way if we had needed anything (we didn't). He even asked if we needed anything to stock the fridge with before we arrived! Couldn't recommend more highly. Thank you.

  • Christopher was a great host. The house is in an absolute lovely area. If you want to experience true Vermont, this is an ideal location. Though it might take a bit to get to the popular towns in Vermont, it's worth the drive. The routes are so scenic. We were two families with four kids. The kids enjoyed splashing about in the brook. And there was ample space for all of us.

    Priya2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, walking distance to Warren. Fall asleep to the sounds of a mountain stream. Big space. Nice beds. Good supply of towels.

  • This house was wonderful! Chris was fantastic and made sure everything went smoothly for us. The house was great--spacious and very comfortable. It was perfect for four on our ski weekend--only 8 minutes from Sugarbush! Pretty location, can imagine it's lovely in the spring/summer too. Thanks Chris!

  • The night we were supposed to come there was a lot of snow and we got stuck so I was not able to make it but my friend, who was part of the reservation, was. She said she had a lovely time with the hosts and the other guests that were there. She felt comfortable and at ease after her long flight into Vermont. She said he place was very clean and well taken care of. Communication with our hosts was excellent. I had no trouble getting in contact with them. They responded within a reasonable time frame when I had questions or concerns. I genuinely appreciate the fact that they took care of my friend when I was not there to do so. I would recommend this place for any Airbnb guest. You will be in good hands!!

  • We only stayed one night at Warren Falls, but we absolutely wish we could have stayed longer! Kirsten was there to welcome us and we enjoyed the very unique space, from the lovely private room to the cozy living space with a large fireplace in the middle of the room. We sat out on the porch with a beer and looked at the stars. I would absolutely recommend stopping here, and hope I can stop by again one day.

  • Kathy's condo was cozy yet spacious. My husband and I cooked breakfast in the morning, drove a few minutes to Sugarbush to ski after that and enjoyed a fire every night back at the condo. The location is convenient for skiing and accessing the local shops. I emailed Kathy a question during our stay and she was very prompt in her reply. We would definitely stay here again!

  • You won't regret staying at Kathy's condo. From the onset, Kathy was responsive to all messages and inquiries. The condo is nestled among trees in the quietest, most relaxed environment I've been in. Don't worry about no phone signal - you won't need it. For those cool nights, the fireplace proved to be a welcome addition. The condo is clean and its setup is ideal for a couple seeking a peaceful weekend getaway. Oh and how can I forget the excellent hot water pressure in the shower! I am beyond glad this is where I got to spend Labor Day weekend. Thanks, Kathy, for everything.

Charming renovated 1850 farmhouse overlooking Kids Brook and two minute walk to Warren Store and Pitcher Inn, 2miles from Sugarbush Ski Resort minutes to Blueberry Lake. The house is adorned with art by local artists.
  • We absolutely loved our visit to Rita's. The house was very clean. The charming country like atmosphere created a low key and relaxing environment. Just what we were looking for. If you are planning to ski the proximity to the mountain is perfect! The general store within walking distance was also an added plus. I have been renting through Airbnb and I have to say Rita was the best hostess we have ever had. Her special touches to make you feel welcome and her open communication were key in making this vacation one of the best we have had so far with airbnb. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone. You will be in good hands.

  • Rita's place is AWESOME. Beautifully decorated, comfortable, warm, very clean and well appointed in a great location. 5 minute drive to skiing. Walk to the Warren Country Store for a bite to eat or a little shopping. Quiet area, with the river flowing nearby. Rita greeted us with open arms and milk and cookies :) She showed us around the property, answered our questions and generally made sure we were comfortable and cared for. Rita is a wonderful hostess and it's apparent she truly loves making people happy. You won't be disappointed if you rent this house - our only disappointment was not renting it for a longer period of time. We were sad to leave.

  • Our group stayed at Rita's place over New Year's weekend. We are a group of friends in our 30s and 40s, and wanted to spend the holiday relaxing in Vermont, while doing some snowboarding. Right after we booked Rita's house, she responded and welcomed us, while offering to answer any questions. Communication with Rita was easy and she checked in with us prior to arrival, and was there to greet us and give us the Grand tour. The house is a beautiful, antique New England home that was plenty spacious and comfortable, with a fully functional kitchen, a gas stove, (this was an awesome addition after being on the mountain all day during a very frigid weekend), and sitting area, and plenty of space to spread out, play cards, and watch TV. The bedrooms were comfortable, especially the spacious Master, and the bathrooms very clean. There was even a pull out couch downstairs for extra sleeping space. We were toasty and warm all weekend, and the Turkish coffee, pastries, and welcome note were all thoughtful touches. We really enjoyed looking at all the artwork from all the various local artists, which is all for sale. I'm very happy with my souvenir painting! Overall, a great, memorable stay. I highly recommend Rita's house for a family or friend gathering in this beautiful Vermont town.

  • Lovely, charming home walkable to the Warren Store and close to Sugarbush. Rita was the hostess with the mostess, greeting us with warm cookies after a long drive up. The house was clean, warm, well-appointed, and perfectly Vermonty. Charming bedrooms under the eaves for kids.

  • Prior to our booking, Rita was extremely quick to respond to my inquiries and was extremely helpful. Then, Rita and Nicholas personally greeted our family of 5 (3 adult children) on Christmas evening with a delish arrangement of Vermont cheese, olives and specialty bread. I appreciated her warm and bubbly personality, and knew we'd found the right home for our getaway. The home is exactly as the photos show. It is decorated beautifully and is extremely comfortable. The beds and linens are very cozy and we rested peacefully. The house was always warm. Lighting is abundant, and there were plenty of throws to cover up with while watching TV or catching a catnap. The fireplace is super easy to use and gives a nice amount of heat. The location is fantastic! It's a very short walk to the general store and to an upscale restaurant. The stream across the street was beautiful and the sound of the babbling water was lovely. The area provides abundant photographic spaces including a nearby covered bridge. Our family enjoyed a day on the slopes of Sugarbush. Rita is the perfect hostess. We enjoyed every moment of our time here and would highly recommend this delightful home as a perfect spot for your trip to the Warren area. Thanks Rita for sharing your piece of paradise with us!!!

  • Everything about the outside of the studio was beautiful, peaceful, and easy to enjoy. The inside of the studio was very comfortable, and designed with your comfort entirely in mind. This is a great place to escape for a few days and relax in the summer. The sound of the brook is hypnotizing. I imagine it is also lovely in the winter. Ken was easy to correspond with, very straightforward, and made sure I knew he was available if I had any questions.

  • I stayed in the studio with one other person, and we had such a wonderful time! Everything (bath towels, shampoo/conditioner, pots/pans, ect.) was included. The bed was so comfortable and the scenery was beautiful. Ken was incredibly nice and accommodating. He even closed our windows when there was a heavy rain coming and we weren't able to close them, and we didn't even ask him to. Thank you for a great weekend, Ken! We hope to be back soon!

  • Everything was perfect! I felt informed and excited from the moment I booked - Ken and Ardis reached out and made sure I had everything I needed. They were flexible, and gave me as much interaction as I needed. The space was quiet and peaceful, but still close to restaurants and things to do. I am telling everyone I know how wonderful it was and I cannot wait to go back!

  • Ken & Ardis's studio at Clay Brook looked look a dream in the photos, and that appearance was true. Our weekend there was nothing but relaxing, luxurious, and restorative. I would highly recommend staying there and discovering the quiet charm of Warren, Vermont. This was the best AirBnb vacation I've ever had.

    Sean2015-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • The studio is beautiful. The scenery is incredible. We had a very relaxing weekend, waking up to snow falling and the brook bubbling through ice. We spent time in the loft just staring out of the windows. Ken and Ardis were very responsive hosts who checked in by text during our stay to let us know when they’d be around, but respected our privacy. They left us a house book that makes all policies and expectations clear. They were very accommodating with our late check-in. The studio is clean and well-stocked with necessities and some extras. We wish we could have stayed a few more days.

  • Pictures don't do this property justice. We give Ken and the Clay Brook Studio a 10 and would recommend booking in both summer or winter. Our only regret was the temp dropped shortly before we arrived so we chose not to grill out (while sitting on the porch overlooking the creek). The furnishings in Clay Brook were new and the interior itself was extremely clean which I greatly appreciate. Thank you Ken for your Vermont hospitality!!

    Beverley2015-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Ken and Ardis were great! Ken gave my boyfriend and I a tour of the studio. He also gave us some tips on what to see nearby, like the Warren Falls and the Waitsfield Farmer's Market. The bed is incredibly comfortable and the kitchen is well-stocked with spices, pots and pans so you can cook almost anything. We dipped our toes into the brook--it was so relaxing to just listen to the running water and wind in the trees. We would most certainly come back during any season.

    Melissa2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our two night stay at the Studio. The house and setting by the brook are a very special combination. All the communication was quick and easy--Ken and Ardis are great hosts. The state of the art sound system is a special bonus, but the sound of the brook, especially at night, is all you need at the great house. We hope to come back again soon.

Friendly Vermont. Sugarbush and Mad River Glen ski areas close by (10 and 20 mins) Local Market within walking distance. Lots to do all year round. Glider center and Blueberry Lake around the corner. Cross Country Skiing literally next door. local shops, restaurants and bars.
  • Immaculately clean!!!! Lovely property. Very comfy bed. Lovely private backyard. Only complaint would be that the back and front doors were see through (windows) and the curtains covering the windows were also see through. Maybe this is just the city dweller in me being too private. Maybe in Vermont people have a lot of front and back doors that are perpetually see through. but it was just a little off putting to me.

  • The location of the cottage was perfect for our weekend trip to Vermont. We were able to easily drive to Waterbury and Stowe but also enjoy the local area of Warren. • We had a great stay at the cottage! Everything was as described and perfect for relaxing and cooking. We enjoyed the foliage, proximity to the East Warren Market and Mad River Valley. We even woke up to a dusting of snow on Sunday morning. Spent our evenings by the fire, and couldn't wait to crawl into the most comfortable bed! We were sad to leave the perfect VT cottage and can't wait to come back.

  • Clean home, comfy bed, nice kitchen, great location, plenty of privacy. Beautiful views, fairly priced. Would love to stay here again. Really enjoyed staying here.

  • Awesome and cozy cottage. We had a lovely fall weekend there. The pellet stove kept us plenty warm when we needed it and heated the house quickly. The hosts did a great job welcoming us upon arrival and answered all of our questions about activities and places/events not to miss in the area. Super comfy bed, lovely yard and all the amenities we needed. Loved the location, too! Awesome hiking and biking around and made it to the Waitsfield farmers' market, which was awesome! Thanks so much!

We chose to create a cozy living space while away from home. You can enjoy skiing, hiking, biking, fall leaf peeping, soaring, golfing and everything else Sugarbush has to offer during all seasons. At the end of the day, come back, relax and get recharged!
The condo is ~500 Sq ft. We have a newly upgraded bedroom and bathroom together with comfortable living space and a balcony overlooking the woods. Plans are in the works to expand the kitchen and renovate the living room after the ski season. We have a small but functional kitchen (microwave, toast oven, under the counter fridge, coffee-maker, single induction cook-top). You can find essential cooking supplies, plates and utensils in the cabinets. WiFi and cable TV are complimentary. We invite you to enjoy complimentary coffee and popcorn but please do not take them home when you check out. We want the next guest to enjoy their stay as much as you did!
We are conveniently located at the bottom of Sugarbush Access road directly off the Route 100. Only a few minutes drive to the Sugarbush ski slopes, the towns of Warren and Waitsfield along with the Sugarbush glider airfield (operational May-Oct).
  • The hosts were very responsive and helpful, both leading up to our stay and during the trip. The apartment had everything we needed for a great ski trip. It is also very close to the resort and accessible for other day trips. We had a wonderful stay!

  • Recently spent the weekend in Warren to snowboard at Sugarbush. This place was in the perfect location, just minutes away from the mountain. It was cute and very clean, we were very happy with our stay.

  • Perfect place for a couple people to recharge while skiing at Sugarbush. The place was very clean, Michael and Zen were very communicative, and it’s less than 10 minutes to both Waitsfield and the mountain.

  • The location was priceless.. super close to sugarbush mountain. Loved being so close to rt 100. The space was very clean. Loved the whole setup as soon as you walked in. There was enough space for boots jackets and all our ski gear. The unit stays very hot.. We actually turned the heat off most nights. Very quiet at night nice and romantic for my husband and I. Only con was the small shower hard to wash my hair or shave legs.. but on the plus side, the bathroom had a personal heater. So we were toasty after a shower. The mattress was also AMAZING!!! Super soft and each side was adjustable to either firmer or softer, perfect after skiing all day. During our stay we ate at the pitcher inn. A must if your in the area. You will not be disappointed !!

  • Matt's place is terrific! Close to everything you need when spending a getaway at Sugarbush. The place was perfect for two of us. We had to cook for a potluck with friends and the kitchen was fully equipped for our needs. Our first night we walked a few steps to Chez Henri for a scrumptious dinner by the fireplace. A classic french restaurant open only in the winter since the mid 60s. A must-do when visiting the valley. After a day of skiing there is nothing like a good hot shower. The water pressure and heat felt terrific after Saturday's sub-zero temperatures. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a terrific stay!

  • Cheryl's place was very close to Sugarbush, wonderfully secluded, quiet, warm, and cozy. It is on a steep hill, offering pretty views of a small river gorge running through the forest, and mountains visible from the back windows in winter. We were initially concerned the other unit would be loud, but it turned out the neighbors are a nice couple who said hi when we arrived. Cheryl was wonderful to coordinate with, and took care to answer all of our questions in advance of the trip. She also prepared a PDF with specifics. Would stay again.

  • Cheryl was nice and actually spoke to me on the phone on the day we left for her house, just so that I'm clear on where to park, how to get in, and what to expect in the neighborhood, it was really helpful. The house was clean with all the amenities we needed and I loved the location as it was the perfect getaway for us from the city. It's really close to VT 100 which was great. Cheryl went out of her way to accommodate one of our requests and we really appreciate that. Look forward to being back again !

  • Great location for skiing with convenient access to the mountain and night life through the shuttles

    John2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Cheryl was a fantastic communicator and really easy to work with. She checked in with us to make sure we got in okay and everything was up to par. When we ran into some issues, she was quick to remedy the situation. The location was fantastic as well. The place smelled mildewy when we arrived which was likely stronger due to lower usage during the summer. My father-in-law who used to build custom houses and has done quite a few renovations was able to provide Cheryl some information regarding where that was coming from and I'm confident that it will be taken care of moving forward. The place was generally clean with the exception of the bathrooms which needed a bit of help despite the place being cleaned the day before our arrival. We told Cheryl and she immediately contacted her cleaner. It's a vacation home for them and hadn't had any issues with the cleaner previously. I am confident that this, too, will be remedied moving forward.

  • What a great place to stay. It was very clean it accommodatex six adults nicely. It was close to Sugarbush Mountain, Norwich University and quaint little shops. The foliage was breathtaking. You can enjoy nature's beauty just stepping outside or looking through many of the windows. It is secluded and charming home. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy all that Vermont has to offer. Cheryl, the owner, was very personable and accommodating.

Also you'll want a headlamp and some good reading materials. I loved making a fire in the stove. Very peaceful place!! I would have loved staying even longer.

  • An amazing experience for anyone who can handle lack of electricity / toilet. Of a 16 day journey through New England(including staying in tree houses, log cabins, national parks, a refurbished caboose), this was by far my sons(5 yrs old) favorite, he absolutely loved the goats. Constancia and Kevin are great people, I highly recommend.

  • My stay at the yurt was positively magical! I booked pretty last minute on a whim and everything went as well as it could have possibly gone. This was my first solo airbnb trip and Constancia, Kevin, goats, and family made me feel safe, secure, and right at home. I made a nice little fire and enjoyed the light of the full moon in the evening and got a restful night sleep. My heart filled with joy in the morning when I opened the door to find a gorgeous little spread of homemade corn muffins and freshly brewed coffee waiting for me. What a thoughtful little gesture! I spent the day sipping coffee in the sun and enjoying the gorgeous foliage and the occasional goat visit. La Lu Farm and the wonderful folks on it really cultivated the true beauty of the airbnb community to a T. Can't wait to visit this little slice of Vermont magic again sometime. I highly recommend staying here :)

The Tack House constructed in the 1960s by well-known design build architects Dave Sellers and William Reineke is a funky unique treehouse style space of Vermont architecture on Warren VTs famed Prickly Mountain. Enjoy amazing views and the Prickly swimming pond!
PLEASE read description carefully and ask questions prior to booking. The apartment at Prickly Mountain is a very unique space. It's basically 3 levels connected by ladders and small entrance up a few stairs. You enter the front door of the home into a mud room, then face two doors, one oval shaped straight ahead to apt. You enter going left up a narrow staircase to the first floor of the apartment. This has low clearance so mind your head. The first floor consists of a small sitting area with two stored twin-size mattresses if needed for sleeping. This level is cozy and does not get a lot of light. There is one window that opens on this level. The second floor is accessible by a platform and ladder. There is a kitchenette equipped with a toaster oven, microwave, double sink and mini fridge. There is no stove. There is also a very unique rustic small bathroom with a side-saddle toilet and a glass-enclosed shower in the living area. There is another sitting area on this level. There is also a sleeping area with a queen size mattress on the floor that can be made semi-private by pulling down a curtain. From this floor there is a large window with a great view of Camels Hump Mt and the Mad River Valley. There is an A/C unit on this level that keeps the temperature on this level and the loft very comfortable. Finally, there is a third floor loft accessible by ladder with another full mattress. As there is a narrow staircase that is used to enter the apartment, and ladders to travel between the floors, so we don't recommend the apartment for young children or elderly.
Prickly Mountain is a unique community in Warren Vermont founded in the 1960s by a group of Yale architects and artists. While you are here, take a drive around the neighborhood to be wowed by all of the amazing and unique experimental architecture. Here is an excerpt from a news article about Prickly Mountain: Innovation & Design The Legacy of Prickly Mountain By Karrie Jacobs Novemb(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) Built as an antiestablishment utopia in the mid 1960s, Vermont enclave Prickly Mountain has had a profound influence on contemporary architecture I’ve always loved the kind of novels that offer an alternative view of the present, where the plot is predicated on one key event in history playing out differently. For instance, there’s Kingsley Amis’s The Alteration, set in England nearly five centuries after the Protestant Reformation didn’t take place. The Catholic Church is unchallenged in its authority, and castrati still sing in the choir. Similarly when Czech Cubism, the surreal cousin to Modernism, emerged after the disintegration of the Iron Curtain, I tried to imagine what the world would be like today if, instead of the rectilinear approach associated with the Bauhaus, an architecture based on triangles and crystalline forms became the norm. Imagine Park Avenue lined with buildings that look like…well, like Norman Foster’s new Hearst headquarters. This is the appeal of Prickly Mountain. A 425-acre enclave not far from the Sugarbush ski resort, it’s a repository of an architectural revolution that never quite took off, a storybook version of the world as it might have been. Or as Progressive Architecture put it in May 1966: “Are you ready? Two lumbering mountaineers just out of Yale Architecture have a project going called Prickly Mountain…and they’re putting down the Establishment by acting as entrepreneur, land speculator, and contractor and craftsman as well as architects, and doing the whole blooming thing themselves. It’s architectural blastoff.” David Sellers, one of the two mountaineers (the other was his classmate Bill Rienecke), had finished his Yale thesis project early and came to Vermont looking to buy land. “And we just never left,” he says. Sellers, now 68, is driving me along the dirt roads of the community he began building 40 years ago. White-haired and a little soft around the middle, he’s still infinitely energetic and, as one reporter said long ago, “comes on with words like a Mack Truck.” His stories, like his architecture, never travel directly from point A to point B. His history of Prickly Mountain begins with a short detour in which he investigated “using ice structures as molds for concrete.” Eventually Sellers and Rienecke bought some land. They each made a $1,000 down payment on a property that they assumed would attract well-heeled skiers. Then they got some friends together and—tossing aside all they’d learned at the feet of Yale professors such as Paul Rudolph about the dignity of the profession—began building structures as the land, materials, and mood dictated. What emerged were new forms: wedges sticking this way and that, cantilevered bridges to nowhere that took maximum advantage of spectacular views, and oddly positioned windows, skylights, and decks. There was even a free-form apartment complex named Dimetrodon, after the ridge-backed dinosaur that inspired the shape of the underlying space frame. It all would have been another isolated example of hippie eccentricity except Life magazine arrived and gave Prickly Mountain a spread in its March 24, 1967, issue: “From the midst of snow-steeped spruces on the mountainside, a new shape jumps—that’s just the word—against a Vermont sky,” the text trumpeted. “The varicolored wood-and-glass construction is a weekend ski house built by a way-out Orpheus.” But instead of attracting skiers willing to pay top dollar for the latest thing in chalets, the article drew disaffected architects from all over the country. Sellers and Rienecke, never the most astute businessmen, began selling off $4,000 parcels to fellow architects, who built more low-budget, high-concept houses. “It was very inspirational to me because I went to architecture school at Princeton, which was not a place where those kinds of things were being explored,” says Steve Badanes, also in his sixties, who still summers in Vermont, cooking and dining in what looks like an old circus trailer, sleeping in a tent on a platform, and spending quality time in a spectacularly rococo outhouse with a broken-mirror mosaic by his wife, artist Linda Beaumont. “During the first year I went up to Prickly Mountain and saw these guys basically using architecture as a way to have a good life. They were having a fabulous time. I said, ‘This is good. I could do this.’ That vision gave me the willingness to hang in there and finish school.” Badanes, of course, went on in the 1970s to form the famously unpredictable nomadic design-build firm Jersey Devil with schoolmates John Ringel and Jim Adamson. Today he teaches his particular freewheeling hands-on approach to architecture at the University of Washington. (He is still, by the way, not licensed as an architect.) Sellers pulls his black SUV up to a structure he calls the Pyramid House. “This is one of the first buildings that had no drawings whatsoever,” he says as we gaze at a cluster of triangular volumes clad in traditional clapboard mounted diagonally and delicately poised on a series of pedestals. At the same time Sellers was designing it, Rienecke was creating the Bridge House. “For that one we had a sculptor on-site, and we just started making things,” Sellers says. “We would put up a window frame and make a room to match.” I’m impressed that these houses, improvised into existence, still stand and that Prickly Mountain still functions as a community. A few homes—like the Bridge House, made famous by Life—burned down. Some were bought by new owners and renovated beyond recognition or demolished. Most of the houses are much as they were when they were built; many are still occupied by the original owners and continue to look like, as the magazine once put it, “not a home but a happening.” Sellers has an architectural office in nearby Warren. His best-known client is the physician/clown Patch Adams, for whom he’s designed an appropriately whimsical, hugely ambitious, and partially completed Gesundheit Institute. He also maintains a wood shop in a massive meandering building he calls the Temple and is working on a poured-concrete house with the help of students from Yestermorrow, a school started by another Prickly Mountain denizen, John Connell, dedicated to teaching design-build to anyone who signs up. Between the initial migration to Prickly Mountain in the 1960s and those attracted later by Yester-morrow, Sellers claims, “there are more architects per capita in Warren Village than anyplace in America.” He counts off ten firms and estimates that each employs five additional architects. (With a 2000 census population of 1,681, that would be one architect for every 28 residents.) Indeed what sets Prickly Mountain apart from other pockets of hippie-era homes is that it represents an act of rebellion by a cadre of well-trained young architects. It’s as if the blob wizards who emerged from their computers at Columbia in the late 1990s had run off together and built a town. Now, 40 years later, it may finally be time to figure out what Prickly Mountain means. Vermont architectural designer Danny Sagan received a Graham Foundation grant for “An Oral History of the Design-Build Movement in Vermont and New England from 1960 to the Present.” He’s been interviewing everyone who ever had anything to do with Prickly Mountain in preparation for an exhibition that is tentatively scheduled for fall 2008. “The idea of the show is to start paying attention to what’s called the counterculture and how it has influenced our life in Vermont.” I think the influence of Prickly Mountain actually goes beyond Vermont. It has a place in the continuum of architectural history somewhere be-tween Andrew Geller’s quirky geometric 1950s beach houses and the early works for which Frank Gehry earned his reputation. And it still has an influence today: the design-build movement has been enjoying a renaissance in part because pioneers like Badanes continue to teach. But to me the true appeal of this outpost of “architecture as a way to have a good life” is that it tells a story as inventive as any work of fiction of an alternative—and perhaps more benign—version of the present.
  • We had a great time. We actually have two children-- adventure-loving active boys who thought the "tree house" concept was the coolest thing ever. We pre-vetted it with Candy, who said ok, and it was a wonderful weekend for our whole family. The listing details are right about the ladder access, and they're steep (you're really climbing.) Definitely NOT a space for those with mobility challenges. But if you're feeling adventurous and want a lovely and light-filled space in the mountains, this is a great one. And we adored the Mad River Valley. Thanks, Candy--we'll be back for sure.

  • Staying in the Tack House was an utter fantasy. Beautiful location, fascinating architecture. Though I didn't have the chance to meet our host, Candy, in person, she was very communicative and welcoming from afar. I would highly recommend staying here if you are artistic or architecturally-minded. A one-of-a-kind experience.

  • We could not have asked for a better stay @ The Tack House! An hour from Burlington, this provided the perfect home away from home. The quirky architecture was fun to explore, and we found a new gem in it each day (check out the shower door!). The closest town provided great art and restaurant entertainment, and the scenic beauty is impossible to beat. 10/10 recommend!

  • Beautiful place to experience fall in VT. Great central location close to many Vermont classics. Amazing piece of architectural history and an awesome authentic Vermont experience. The skylight bed is one of our favorite places to wake up ever.

  • House very up to date. Within a mile to Sugarbush mtn. Great master bedroom with steam shower.

  • Great unit and location. Very close to Sugarbush and the home is spacious, the gas fireplace is very useful in warming up the space. Clean. Will recommend. Its worth noting that there is another small partial unit attached to the main house over the garage so you need to ask the property management upfront if you want to rent the "whole house".

    Samphel2017-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • The place was clean and perfect for a party of 9. The master bedroom is really nice with a steam shower. Chef kitchen. We had problems with the heating, this was solved at the next day and we weren't charged for the night without hearing on one of the floors. I recommend this place for a quiet vacation in the nature.

  • This is a great house in a great location. The house is very spacious and cozy with scenic views all over. I would recommend bringing a 4 wheel drive car in winter though because the road up to the house is very steep and is a problem when it snows. All in all this was a great place

  • We really enjoyed our stay, and the condo is great! The kids loved it too; their room was comfy and spacious. Scott is very responsive to any questions, and provides a super easy check-in. There does have to be a lot of snow for the ski-in/ski-out, so we weren't able to enjoy that feature. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Scott's place was well-kept, clean, and as advertised. He is also very responsive. Location is great and right at the base of the mountain. No complaints.

  • The flat is beautiful, very clean and spacious, nicely decorated, and with a fully fitted kitchen. The rental is for the whole flat so the host, Karen, is not there, but she was very communicative. I got the check-in details well ahead of time and she was quick to respond to any questions. She also gave me a lot of recommendations for food and activities in the area, which was much appreciated. As well as this, she has put together a folder with a lot of information and flyers on things to do in the area, which was very helpful. The condo is in a ski resort but I was there for a long weekend in the summer, and it was quiet and relaxing. We got in some horse riding and a trip to the Warren Falls, as well as checking out some restaurants in Warren and nearby Waitsfield. There are some hiking trails in the area but we didn't have time to check these out, but I would definitely go back another time and stay here again.

    Lina2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great - check in was easy, space was as advertised and the whole area was beautiful in full fall colors.

  • Quiet, clean, and great location in the mountains. Easy travel to nice hiking spots and beautiful small towns. Although the condo is in a ski resort, it is definately worth a visit in the summer time. Karen was not on site, but she was very communicative and helpful. She responded immediately to any questions and provided very useful tipps about what to explore in the area.

  • Karen's condo was great for a ski weekend. We had 4 of us staying there, 2 on the pullout and 2 in the bedroom. It was a bit tight with 4 people but for the price and location it was hard to beat. It is a ski-in condo when there is enough snow to get you to the door. It was a short 10 minute walk to the lifts in the morning. Also a couple of restaurants and pubs are within a short walking distance. Would definitely stay again.

The Bluebonnet Room has original wide board pine floors, and features a painting of Texas bluebonnets as well as mementos of the Lone Star State where Peter & Susan lived for a number of years. The room offers a comfortable seating area in front of the gas fireplace. It is up one flight of stairs from the Dining Room. The private ensuite full bath has a tub/shower/steambath combo.
You will enjoy a stay at West Hill House B&B, one of the top rated B&Bs in Vermont, just one mile from the Sugarbush Ski and Golf Resort. Warren is almost in the exact center of Vermont and makes an excellent place to stay to explore our beautiful state. Warren itself has a beautiful small village center on a quiet main street with a quintessential country store. The Long Trail passes by the B&B on the ridge above and provides a number of excellent day hikes. Warren is part of the Mad River Valley community located on river of the same name, and the area has a population of about 7,000 total. Close to Sugarbush Mountain and Mad River Glen Skiing, with great views, amazing light, and unique whacky Prickly Mountain 1960's architecture. Very creative space. Great for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, especially good for families (with kids), and furry friends (pets). 56 acres of shared trails and a community pond. Fun!
This four story house is a very unique creative space, with a fire pole from the 4th floor to the third floor, balconies looking out onto the mountains from the master bedroom, which hosts a whole wall of glass. This place is truly a unique find.
It's a beautiful rural setting with amazing people and very unique architecture. You can really 'get away from it all' for a week, or a month or a weekend, and people are around if you want to see them but you don't have to.
  • We loved staying at Susan's house. It is a wonderful place to go if you want to get away from it all and have peace and quiet. Also perfect for skiing! The house was immaculate when we got there and no detail was ignored. We enjoyed the prickly mountain experience which is like no other. Susan has it all covered, even a nice young man shows up to shovel after a few inches of snow. Can't wait to go back.

    andrea2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here over a weekend in September. What a fantastic location! It is private, but we were within an hour drive of everything we wanted. The view from the upstairs deck, and the view from the top of the meadow (which is a short uphill hike) is amazing. The house is funky but comfortable. We had everything we needed to have a relaxing time. Having coffee on the upstairs deck watching the fog in the valley is something I already miss. Susan was very communicative and helpful. She was fast to respond to any of my questions, and even left us a very nice welcome gift of Vermont staples. Whenever we are back in Vermont, we will be back staying here again!

    Chris2016-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at this thoroughly unique house in a gorgeous setting was mostly a good experience. We never met Susan, but she was a very warm and responsive host and easy to access via text. I didn't get a chance to check out the myriad of trails around the property, but the views (particularly from the second floor balcony) were second to none, and it's in a beautiful setting that's peaceful and remote without being too far from the amenities of Mad River Valley. The only thing that stops me from giving a 5 star review is the black fly problem in the master bedroom and sleeping loft, which we were told happens this time of year (October). We as guests had to deal with the problem personally, and it wasn't a very pleasant way to start our vacation. I realize we're staying in rural Vermont and creatures happen, but this was more than one or two flies we had to deal with...hopefully Susan can find a more permanent solution to this problem in the future, as her house is groovy and I think families in particular would enjoy staying here.

  • The pictures do not do this place justice! It is a huge home with plenty of space for sleeping and a spacious kitchen and living room area. There is a patio and a couple balconies attached to the upstairs rooms which are great for views and getting fresh air. There is a wood stove inside and a charcoal grill with seating on the patio area. If you are not familiar with Warren - it's a bit secluded, but that's what makes it amazing :) About an hour from Burlington and 25 minutes from Waterbury with cute restaurants and markets. (But trust me you will most likely be going here to get away!) Warren Falls is great in the summer time - it's a beautiful waterfall for swimming and hiking around and of course Sugarbush is right there for skiing in the winter! Susan is extremely responsive via text/message on Airbnb and helpful with any questions. I contacted her a few days before with questions and when we got there. She was very helpful and the stay was seamless! The only complaint were the bugs/insects. It is probably because of the warm weather that is still plaguing us this time of year but there were several flies in the upstairs bedrooms. They did not bother us, the flies actually stayed where they were versus buzzing around us. We were a pretty easy going group but there were just a LOT. I think in the winter time this would not be an issue at all plus we were actually in middle of the woods so we were not surprised. It was such a beautiful home and we would go back in a heartbeat! Thanks for the amazing stay Susan!!

    Cara2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Susan was super helpful and got back to us very quickly with any questions about the house or the area. The house is very comfortable and everyone in our group had a great stay. We'd definitely love to come back again!

My place is close to skIing, swimming holes, foliage, pretty much everything Vermont's Mad River Valley has to offer. You’ll love my place because of the front porch, the fire pit and its proximity to Warren Village and both Sugarbush and Mad RIver Valley Ski Areas. My place is good for couples and families (with kids).

  • We spent the 4th of July weekend at Joy's adorable Vermont farm house, and really enjoyed ourselves. Joy was communicative and helpful in letting us know how to get into the farmhouse when we checked in late! Situated in the small town of Warren it's close to skiing (in the winter), and hiking + falls (summer). We loved the cozy feel of the house, found the beds to be really comfortable, and enjoyed the fire pit in the back yard. There is also a big barn on the property with Foosball, darts and ping pong. The only issue we encountered was with the internet, the network wouldn't show up on any of our devices, but it seems like that is something easily serviced. There was only 4 of us this weekend, but you could fit many more with the multiple bedrooms. We loved our time there and would definitely go back again!

    Angela2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • The house is so cozy and comfortable. I could have stayed there forever! Great location, just a short walk to downtown Warren General Store. We slept 6 comfortably and could have had more. The fire pit and the barn were great, I only wish we had more time to enjoy them!!

  • Wonderful rambling farmhouse close to Warren center, swimming and hiking. It was the perfect spot for the ten of us as we could really spread out. The kids could come and go outside and in the barn where there was ping pong and other table games. The kitchen was surprisingly well equipped and once you got past the quirky internet connection, it was high speed and efficient. Joy was a joy to communicate with and responded very quickly anytime we had questions or concerns. It was a house that grew on me the longer we stayed there.

    Robin2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Seven of us celebrated Christmas in Joy's home, and it was probably our best Christmas in recent memory. The house is super cozy and well-equipped to feel like a home. We cooked Christmas meals, opened presents from under a tree, went on a long walk around Warren in the snow, played games, and just enjoyed our time together. And this house is super conducive to all that! There were enough bathrooms, towels, and beds for all of us, and all these amenities were clean and comfortable. If you're looking for a place to bring a family young or old and in any season, you'll make wonderful memories here. Thanks, Joy, for making Christmas possible :)
