용두암은 잘 알려진 관광지로 제주시 담동 해안에 위치한다. 용두암 부근은 높은 절벽을 이루고 있고, 동쪽과 서쪽으로는 지형이 완만해지는 것으로 보아 두꺼운 용암이 흘렀을 것으로 추측된다. 용두암을 옆에서 보면 용머리 모양을 하고 있으나, 높은 곳에서 내려다보면 얇은 판을 길게 세워놓은 모양이다.

제주특별자치도 북부 용담동 해안의 용두암(龍頭岩)에서 동쪽으로 약 200m 떨어진 지점에 있는 유서 깊은 소(沼)인 용연의 둘레를 따라 조성한 산책로이다. 총연장 1km 정도이며 전부 돌아보는 데 25분 정도 소요된다. 제주특별자치도 전체에서 최고의 야간 산책 코스라는 평가를 받을 정도로 특히 야경이 아름답기로 유명하다.
