Nestled on the island outpost of Chappaquiddick, Mytoi (pronounced “my toy”) is an intimate Japanese-style garden flourishing with both native flora and exotic plants, offering visitors a destination for quiet contemplation. Sheltered by a lovely pine grove, the preserve includes a small pond and island—habitat for turtles, frogs, and goldfish—non-native and native flowers and plants, and a trail leading toward Poucha Pond and the salt marsh.

This beach is members only- but there is a public beach directly to the right of it, known as ‘Marinelli Beach’. This beach is 1/2 mile from the cottage and only a 15 minute walk! Bring your beach chairs and a cooler of drinks and watch the ferry come in to the nearby Oak Bluffs dock!
Marinelli Beach is a tiny bit of beach that you can access via a foot-path that cuts through the East Chop Beach Club. Also called Jetties Beach, it’s owned by the Town of Oak Bluffs. It’s an ideal place to bring children: if the surf is rough on the Vineyard Sound side, walk along the shore to the Oak Bluffs Harbor side, where kids can puddle around in little tide pools and might collect some jelly fish. It’s also a great spot to watch boats come and go. The Steamship Authority Ferry will pass from its pier just East of the beach on its way to Woods Hole, and the harbor itself is busy with the traffic of the Island Queen to Falmouth, the Fast Ferry to Providence, and the Hyline boats to Nantucket and Hyannis, along with speedboats and sailboats.
