There are many great parks in Philadelphia, but none are quite like Cira Green. That’s because Cira Green is a park built on the roof of a 12-story parking garage.Despite being located 100 feet above the ground on top of a concrete structure, Cira Green feels very much like a park. There are walkways, benches, and even several sections of grass that are perfect for relaxing. While Cira Green is only a little over an acre in size, it’s well worth taking the time to see if you are looking for one of the best outdoor spots in Philadelphia. The entrance is located on 30th Street between Chestnut and Walnut Street.

The Frankford Avenue Bridge, erected in 1697 in the Holmesburg section of Northeast Philadelphia, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, is the oldest surviving roadway bridge in the United States. The American Society of Civil Engineers describes the bridge as the first known stone arch built in the U.S., and probably the oldest stone bridge in the country.

Walk up the street from your stay and take a calming stroll down Baring Street. It is definitely one of my most lovely streets in the neighborhood and Philadelphia. You will appreciate the architecture in this oasis after a busy day in Center City.

Tucked away in a remote section of Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park, you’ll find the “Kelpius Cave,” an enhanced cave built into the side of a hill, with a stone frame entrance marking what’s believed to be the 17th century home of America’s first cult of mystics to predict the imminent apocalypse.

Designed by Louis C. Tiffany and based on a Maxfield Parrish landscape, it took 6 months to install in 1916. The mural is 15 feet by 49 feet made up of 100,00 pieces of glass in over 260 color tones making it arguably the largest Tiffany piece in the world (though the Tiffany art glass dome located in Preston Bradley Hall in the Chicago Cultural center certainly has a claim.) Dream Garden was the largest glass mural in the country until 2007 when it was surpassed by the Wing Lung Bank Mural in Alhambra, CA.
