This fun location has approximately 60 displays of North American Animals - the Museum is about the length of 2 city blocks and has tons of intricate details. The animals are in natural settings with hand-painted backgrounds, and many displays have sound effects.
The museum also includes a Wildlife Theater, a Hands-on Discovery Room, some walk-in exhibits where you can touch the animals, and a display of authentic & historic hunting and fishing items from Michigan.
There is also a large gift shop on site with handmade fudge, unique gifts and souvenirs, and more. Sure to be exciting for the whole family!

The City of Gaylord maintains an elk herd and provides viewing areas for the public to stop and watch these impressive animals. Under the City’s care, roughly 40 elk can be viewed from near the Elks Lodge off Grandview Blvd.
The herd is contained on 108 acres. City staff feed the animals corn, hay and sugar beets, plus vitamins. The herd started with three elk 14 years ago, when a local nature center closed.

Otsego Lake State Park is a charming and popular family park. It is heavily shaded with large oak, maple and pine trees and is home to large campsites near or within sight of the lake. The park is known for its beautiful sandy beach.
The universally accessible swimming beach and day-use area include picnic tables, grills, a floating fishing pier and water volleyball. The popular boat launch provides excellent access for motorized and nonmotorized watercraft. Pet-friendly shoreline.

The universally accessible swimming beach and day-use area include picnic tables, grills, a floating fishing pier and water volleyball. The popular boat launch provides excellent access for motorized and nonmotorized watercraft. Pet-friendly shoreline.
Paved and unpaved trails for walking, biking and in-line skating are well suited for family adventures close to downtown Gaylord. Don't forget to stop by the boundary shared with Elk Park to view the elk, sika and fallow deer herds. The entire park is lit until 11:00 p.m. year-round!
Trails are groomed in the winter for cross-country skiing or break your own trail on a pair of snowshoes.

Their vision for the Gaylord Bowling Center is to be a sustainable revenue source for Vets, Inc. of Northern Michigan, and to be a year-round destination family fun center with entertainment, restaurant/lounge, video arcade, and bowling; to enhance a sense of community and facilitate charitable fundraising. There is something here for the whole family to enjoy.
