Incredible Pizza and Pasta restaurant with a very laid back atmosphere. Perfect for a quick bite to eat or a romantic dinner for 2!
Artfully decorated by local interior designer Andrea Graff, NV-80 shares a Cuba meets vintage dining room ambience – with bright lemon and teal hues set amoungst tall palm trees. Fluorescent finishes coat classic cast aluminium, Windsor dining chairs wear metal feet and copper accents compliment mighty matchstick blinds – this is Graff’s 21st Century take on 1970's South Africa. Firm favourites include tender-aged chalmar steak, king prawns, and their famous peri-peri baby chicken, which loyal patrons will remember from NV-80’s fancier sibling down on Somerset. Entrées range from R55 – R75, grilled meats from R120 – R150, and shellfish from R90 - R320 (for a platter).

There are a variety of tapas options, including glazed pork ribs and a serving of lemon, chilli and coriander prawns. A welcome snack of flatbread with hummus and chillies goes down very well. Starters include the likes of rabbit ravioli with mushroom, peppers and goat’s cheese, as well as a warming mushroom and sherry soup – both lovely. The mains menu offers some steaks, seafood and lamb chops. Pork belly on creamy mash will go far to satisfy those hunger pangs. The smell of a dish of ostrich meatballs, served with tagliatelli, spinach, spicy napoletana and pecorino is very alluring, and begs to be sampled on a return visit.

The restaurant is set in a Victorian house so there are several separate rooms to create intimate dining spaces as well as a bar with a large dark wood counter. The décor is opulent and gorgeous, with lots of velvet and quirky design details. Outside in front of the house is a garden area for summer eating. The offerings range from beer battered fish with minted peas and hand-cut fries, and Morrocan-spiced lamb rump on flatbread with red cabbage slaw and tahini yoghurt, to beetroot risotto and the KSH Wagyu beef burger with camembert, truffled wild mushrooms, rocket, pickled red onion, and horseradish crème fraîche. The butternut, spinach, and feta spring rolls with dukkah spiced sweet chilli sauce are a winner, as is the salad of pan-fried halloumi with charred cauliflower florets, cucumber, sultanas, toasted seeds, and red pepper.

The Brasato is a beef fillet covered in red wine with sage, rosemary, thyme, and slow cooked into the wood fire over for 6 up to 8 hours. Also on offer are the pizzas and the special of the day. Small restaurant of approximately 8 tables with an incredible atmosphere. A must when in Cape Town.
