No reservations needed. Kayak among otters, seals (MB). You can rent from either Monterey Bay or Elkhorn Slough which is quieter and our preferred location.

If you have some trip budget left, I HIGHLY recommend renting a kayak and heading out onto the bay. Not even kidding, otters will swim up to you and chill.

Great exercise and sightseeing all at once. You can paddle around the cannery row shoreline and checkout the local wildlife up-close.

[Monterey] I cannot recommend this enough if you are up for it. Takes about four hours. Kayak out onto the bay, where you are likely to kayak by the adorably cute California sea otters.
