City Park Grill, one of Petoskey’s oldest buildings, was originally constructed in 1875. McCarty Hall, as it was then known, was a males-only billiard parlor that offered cigars and “intoxicating beverages.” The storied history includes tales of prohibition, speakeasies, underground tunnels, of young Ernest Hemingway, and ghost sightings. City Park Grill has a nice selection for fine dining as well as an inviting environment at their long historic bar with a seat designated where Ermest Hemingway sat in his day. Ask about their speakeasy tours that are given seasonally.

City Park Grill, one of Petoskey’s oldest buildings, was originally constructed in 1875. From the 1910s – 1920s, Ernest Hemingway made northern Michigan his summer home and the City Park Grill was one of his famous go-to spots. They are known for their incredible biscuits, served hot out of the oven with every meal!
