Thomas Jefferson wasn’t the only President to live in Charlottesville. Be sure to visit James Monroe’s Ashlawn/Highland as well. Just a few minutes beyond Monticello, it’s worth the trip.

Right next to Monticello is James Monroe’s home. It is more low key but a really nice way to spend your time at another Presidents’ home.

I really like this tour. I found it really interesting. This is the home of the 5th president of the United States, James Monroe. Formally called Ashland, it is adjacent to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello.
