Kid and family friendly beach. Great for learning how to surf. Rent a stand up paddle board or kayak or snorkel and explore sea caves and protected wildlife refuge.

Conveniently located just 5min away from your Airbnb, La Jolla Shores is a must when you visit San Diego. You can rent kayaks and paddle out on your own to explore caves carved out of sandstones; the biggest, and easiest to reach is Clam Cave. Be aware of the tides!

Anchored by the Scripps Institute of Oceanography pier, this is a busy swimming area popular among families and surfers alike. Shielded by La Jolla Bay, it is also used as a launching ground for scuba diving and kayaking. At night it's alive with the glow of beach fires.
